Sophomore guard Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir finished with eight points, four assists against one turnover, two steals, four rebounds in 32 minutes in the 60-55 win over SMU Thursday.

Official: Samir Badr signs w/ Egypt’s Haras El Hodood

Former US U-20 goalkeeper Samir Badr has officially signed a professional contract with Egypt’s Haras El Hodood!

8 Fun Facts about Samir Badr and Haras El Hadood:

1) Badr was featured in The New York Times Magazine as 1 of 11 Next-Generation American Soccer Players.

2) In 2007 Badr made two appearances for the United States U-15
National Team. He then was selected for the U-18 team where he made 18 appearances and was promoted to the U-20 team under former player and coach, Thomas Rongen.

3) In 2009 he was selected for the ESPN RISE high school boys soccer
All-American team and during his senior season, he had a perfect
season, not allowing a single goal.

4) After finishing high school, he went to Europe for trials with FC
Porto and Sporting Lisbon, and FC Porto immediately signed Badr in
2009, where he was coached by current Chelsea FC manager, Andre
Villas-Boas.

5) In the January 2012 transfer season Badr signed with Haras El Hodood at age 19.

6) Haras El Hodood currently sits at the top of the Egyptian Premier League Standings with 34 points in 13 games played. They are 1 point ahead of Al-Ahly and 2 points ahead of Zamalek SC.

7) Egyptian media has made multiple claims that Badr could follow in the footsteps of the great Al-Masry goalkeeper, Ahmed El-Shenawy.

8) Marked at 191 cm, Badr is currently in consideration for the representing the United States U-23 National Team in the 2012 CONCACAF Pre-Olympic Tournament to help the team qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.
